What Is Your Superpower Bloghop

Welcome to this bloghop! As always, many thanks to Madame Samm and Pauline for hosting. They must have so much energy!

I had a long think about my superpower before finally turning to my husband and asking him. "You could call yourself 'MegaMess' or 'The Mess Monster'." he helpfully suggested. He sometimes comes home to find me cross legged on the floor or sofa with fabric, knitting, embroidery and more spread around me. At these times he refers to me as "Craft Buddha"! But having seen a great Buddha at Kamakura a month ago I thought something a little less emotive was needed. Finally it occurred to me - yes, I am a tad messy, but I do know where everything is! Therefore....behold! The Mistress of Mess!
Mistress of Mess Embroidery
I mixed chain stitch outlines on the letters with a running stitch outline of the limbs and a kind of messy satin stitch on the hair, dress and shoes.

The central figure is a design I had saved as a flickr favourite from 2008 which made it onto Pinterest and came to mind when I heard about this bloghop. Unfortunately her shop is no longer open so I had to freehand copy the design but if it does reopen I will gladly pay for it. So happy that I finally got to stitch it myself!

I hope you like what I have done and are all aware of your own superpowers! Please visit the others who are in today's bloghop and those form other days. You can see the full schedule here.

Oh, I had to laugh. I had a boss who told me I needed to clean off my desk. He felt at the level I had attained, I needed to have a clean desk. He admitted that I knew where things were, yet it thought I needed a clean desk. So, I cleaned off my desk to please him since he controlled my raises. One day he came in and ask me for a copy of a memo. I gave it to him and he never said another word to me about my desk.

I get bored with one craft and bounce back and forth from different crafts. I need to put one craft up before I get start on another one, even for a few minutes.

Your superpower project is adorable. I think you might be a little hard on yourself. It sounds like you enjoy several crafts and are very, very creative. Thanks for sharing and I think many of us can relate on some level.

WE PRACTICALLY SHARE A SUPER POWER! YAY! Love what you embroidered. I like that you have yourself as a controller of the mess. I am afraid I am actually more inclined to be a creator and less of a controller of the mess!

Marcy said...

Well Mistress, your stitching is gorgeous and you are the Mistress of Stitching too! She is darling.

That is just perfect, Lixie. As long as you don't waste crafting time looking for things, who cares if things are a little messy, right? Well done and thanks for the smile!

Lixie...you are too funny and you described me to a T...I like to think my sewing room is an 'organized mess' as I can usually find anything pretty quick too. Luv your 'Mistress of Mess' project. The title and the stitching are perfect...I really do need one for my sewing room. Thanks for the inspiration!! Happy stitching, Pauline

LOVE IT! I am so the same way, I might have what others call a mess, but I know where everything is, it is when I clean things up that I loose them and sometimes can't find them for months, like my precious Aurifil, I put it away and couldn't find it for 2 months, lol.

Doris Rice, The Quilting Queen said...

Oh, I'm sure you were talking about me and made this in honor of me! That's me, a SUPER MESS!!! And my husband would agree 100%. The project is fabulous! Contrats on the top 2 pick.

Brandy said...

I love your stitching! I think I share this superpower with you too, I'll have to show my husband, he'll get a kick out of it. :) And by the way, I hope things are looking up for your sister. What an awful thing to go thru, she's fortunate to have you available for support. I'm glad you get to spend time with your niece, that's awesome!

My boss always tells me that a messy desk is the sign of a creative and productive employee! My desk, craft room, and anywhere I happen to be working on whatever is always messy, but I always get things done and know where everything is. Great superpower to have and I love your embroidery too!
